Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year:

We hope you and your family are safe and healthy as we get ready to return to school in August!  We are excited to begin the school year and want to make sure you have the necessary information to have a successful start. 

Your student is important and we will do everything we can for them to have a successful, safe and enjoyable experience at Abraham Lincoln High School. Students have the opportunity to earn college credit for free, earn an Industry Certificate, take Advanced Placement Courses and earn a 2 year Associates’ Degree. At Abraham Lincoln, our expectation is that every student will be prepared to be successful after high school and our goal is for each of our students to attend a college and have an amazing career.  While at Lincoln you will have the opportunity to save up to $50,000 on the cost of college—at Lincoln we take care of this for you!

Student Parking:

Families whose students will be driving and parking at Lincoln will have to purchase a parking pass on the day of registration. They will need proof of registration, proof of insurance, and a driver’s license/permit. For more info please visit https://alhs.dpsk12.org/student-parking/

First day of school:

  1. 9th Grade Connect Academy: Monday, August 5th – Wednesday, August 7th, 2024

All 9th-grade students will begin school on Monday, August 5th at 8:15 am for Connect Academy and will need to report no later than 8:00 am. This is MANDATORY.  All 9th graders will have 3 days of school to have a strong start in their high school career. – All 9th graders will experience our year-long Connect Academy to ensure all students are provided with support, resources, and connections to be successful Students.  Students will receive extra graduation credit for starting school early.  

  • MI & MIA Students entering grade 9 will start Monday, Aug 19th
  1. All 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students will begin school on Monday, August 19th at 8:25 am and will need to report no later than 8:15 am.

Student Arrival

Students need to be at Lincoln each day no later than 8:15 am. for an 8:25 am start time and the school day ends at 3:40pm.  Students will enter the main doors daily.   

Mandatory School Readiness

We expect all students to be ready to learn everyday, and that requires students to be highly organized.  Each teacher will inform your child as to what additional school supplies they will need to purchase to be successful.   To support this, it is required that the following items are brought to school each day:

  • Students must be at school 90% of the time.  This will provide the best opportunity for academic success
  • Chromebook- (Distribution will happen in the First two weeks of school)
  • Backpack 
  • Pencils, pens
  • Water bottle

**Please bring your Chromebook-laptop everyday to school and make sure it is charged. If you do not have a Chromebook, we will assign one to you.

New Bell Schedule

Lunch time

All grade levels will have lunch at 12:05pm. Lunch is 45 minutes long and students are encouraged to eat in our cafeteria, but students do have the option to eat off campus. However, students must return to the school by 12:55pm. to start period 5 class on time at 1pm.

Early Release Day (Thursdays)

Every Thursday students will be released to go home at 1:20pm. We will use this additional time in the afternoon for teacher professional learning and student data reviews.

Student Dress Code:

We have high expectations for our students and believe that all of our students have the opportunity to attend college and access a good career when they graduate from Lincoln.  Students must learn in a safe environment and we will enforce our dress code strongly.

The following are our dress code expectations:

It is highly recommended students wear Abraham Lincoln shirts.  Each student will receive a Lincoln shirt during registration and we will have shirts available to purchase.  In addition, it is recommended that students wear navy, white, gray shirts/tops. Students can wear Lincoln Lancer baseball hats, and we will have them available for purchase.

No red shirts, pants, shorts, shoes, shoe laces, belts, durags

No attire that display drug paraphernalia or racist language

  • No bandanas of any color
  • Shirts and tops must cover the stomach and be worn
  • Appropriate tops – no midriff/crop tops
  • Shorts and skirts length must not be shorter than the ends of your fingertips when arms are down and standing straight
  • Only Lincoln Lancer hats acceptable
  • No sagging pants or showing undergarments

Every Wednesday is College Day and we encourage all students and staff to wear a college shirt of their choice.  

Every Friday is Lancer Pride Day and we expect all students and staff to wear Lincoln gear.

Students will be given the opportunity to dress appropriately everyday, if students choose to not support our dress code, a phone call will be made to the parent/guardian and the student will be asked to wear clothes that are within our dress code policy.

Cell phone Policy

In order to maximize every minute of instruction students will not be allowed to disrupt learning with cell phones.  Therefore cell phones may only be used on school grounds before school, during lunch, after school, and during passing periods. Cell phone use will not be allowed in classrooms unless otherwise stated by a teacher.  This includes airpods and headphones.  During the instructional day, cell phones must remain out of sight and in silent mode. Cell phones will be taken away from those who do not adhere to school policy.

Daily cell phone use: 

  • Students may store cell phones upon classroom entry in the cell phone holder
  • Students may choose to not place their cell phone on the assigned holder, only if the cell phone is out-of-sight (in pockets, backpack, etc.) and in silent mode.
