Dear Lincoln Community:
In my three-decade career, I’ve come to recognize that despite meticulous planning, circumstances can often take unexpected turns. After careful consideration of several factors, I’ve decided not to proceed with the transition to the role of Executive Director of Secondary Schools, as previously discussed. Over the past week, following thorough reflection, I’ve conveyed to DPS leadership that this move isn’t the right fit for me.
My aspiration has always been to conclude my career at Lincoln, and my goal is that this will materialize by the end of the 2024-2025 school year. I’m delighted that Nestor Bravo is poised to assume the role of principal succession at our school. I will remain here at Lincoln next year and Nestor Bravo will also be here. I will have the opportunity to provide guidance and mentorship to Mr. Bravo throughout the upcoming year, ensuring that he and Lincoln are well-positioned for the future.
Before the start of the 2024-2025 school year, we will provide clear communication to all families and community members regarding our respective roles and responsibilities. Given Lincoln’s status as a turnaround school, it’s imperative that our principal succession plan is transparent and executed with precision, not just for our community but also for DPS and the Colorado Department of Education.
I’m genuinely excited to be staying on for the next year (as is my family), and I firmly believe that we’ll witness a significantly more successful year ahead, not only for our students but for everyone involved.

Querida comunidad de Lincoln:
En mis tres décadas de carrera, he llegado a reconocer que a pesar de una planificación meticulosa, las circunstancias pueden tomar giros inesperados. Después de una consideración de varios factores, he decidido no continuar con la transición al rol de Director Ejecutivo de Escuelas Secundarias, como se discutió anteriormente. Durante la semana pasada, luego de una profunda reflexión, le transmití a los líderes del DPS que esta medida no es la adecuada para mí.
Mi aspiración siempre ha sido concluir mi carrera en Lincoln, y mi objetivo es que esto se materialice al final del año escolar 2024-2025. Estoy encantado de que Néstor Bravo esté preparado para asumir el papel de director sucesor de nuestra escuela. Yo permaneceré aquí en Lincoln el próximo año y Néstor Bravo también estará aquí y tendré la oportunidad de brindar orientación y tutoría al Sr. Bravo durante el próximo año, asegurando que él y Lincoln estén bien posicionados para el futuro.
Antes del inicio del año escolar 2024-2025, brindaremos una comunicación clara a todas las familias y miembros de la comunidad sobre nuestras respectivas funciones y responsabilidades. Dado el estatus de Lincoln como una escuela en recuperación, es imperativo que nuestro plan de sucesión de directores sea transparente y se ejecute con precisión, no sólo para nuestra comunidad sino también para DPS y el Departamento de Educación de Colorado.
Estoy realmente emocionado de quedarme durante el próximo año (al igual que mi familia), y creo firmemente que seremos testigos de un año significativamente más exitoso por delante, no solo para nuestros estudiantes sino para todos los involucrados.
