Lancers Robotics Team Triumphs at BEST Robotics Competition!

Posted December 3, 2024

This past Sunday, Lancers proudly hosted and participated in the BEST Robotics Competition. Although the school has participated in the past, this year’s team was made up of an entirely new group of students, none of whom had prior experience. Despite this, they delivered an extraordinary performance, earning three prestigious trophies:

  • 3rd Place BEST Award
  • Most Robust Machine
  • Craftsmanship High School Award

What makes this achievement even more inspiring is that most of our team members are new to the country and are still learning English. The BEST Award challenged them to excel in multiple areas, including a marketing presentation, an exhibit, an exhibit presentation and interview, robot performance and team spirit. Their hard work and determination made a lasting impression.

The team’s success extended beyond the robot itself. A special shout-out goes to the CTSO  students for their incredible work printing the team’s t-shirt- and helping with the exhibit: Crishawn Curry, Jose López, Daniel Velasquez, Angel Soto, Cesar H. Gallegos, Aydan Fabela, Daniela Juarez, Paula Grimaldo, David Rivera, Angeli Montellano, and Koby Alvarez. Their creativity and effort brought the team’s vision to life and played a significant role in earning the Craftsmanship High School Award.

The judges were especially wowed by the community’s energy and creativity, sharing comments such as:

  • “Strong enthusiasm. Use of drums and noisemakers, excellent sportsmanship.”
  • “Great job, team! Excellent spirit and sportsmanship for Game Day.”
  • “Loved the drums to support teams during matches; posters, signs, mascots, cheerleaders—you had it all!”
  • “This was a ‘wow’ Game Day for Abraham Lincoln in Spirit & Sportsmanship! The blue astronaut uniforms were a great touch.”

This success would not have been possible without the support and dedication of our incredible community. A huge thank-you goes out to:

  • All administrators and Lincoln staff
  • Cheerleaders
  • CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization)
  • Dancing Team
  • Latino Student Alliance
  • Music Band
  • ROTC
  • Spanish Honor Society
  • STUCO

We are also thrilled to announce that our team has qualified for Regionals, which will take place on December 7 and 8 in Colorado Springs. This is a milestone that reflects the strength of our school and community coming together.

Thank you again to everyone who made this possible. We are excited to represent ALHS and continue to make you proud at Regionals!
