Hello Lancer Class of 2025 Students and Families,

Ninth Grade Academy (NGA) is right around the corner and we are so excited to welcome you to the Lancer family! This communication is all about Ninth Grade Academy and includes information for everyone as well as information specific to you/your student. Please read this entire email carefully!

NGA is next week, Monday, August 16 through Friday, August 20. All students must arrive no later than 8:25 AM daily. Grab and go breakfast bags will be available each morning. We will start our day in the Lincoln gym at 8:25AM-9:15AM for breakfast and morning meeting. Afterwards, we will rotate with our Lancer Family groups and go through three different sessions. We will have support staff and students to help with transitions and rotations.

DPS new guidelines require  that all students and staff wear masks at all times while indoors. Please ensure your student brings a mask with them to school each day! Students should also plan to bring their Chromebook and charger to school with them, if they have one from middle school. Students will have the opportunity to receive a Chromebook during NGA week. On the first day, each student will be provided with a water bottle as well, but students are also able to bring one from home too! Students may not drink from the water fountains, but can fill water bottles. Lastly, students should ensure they have comfortable clothes (students can wear whatever they want that is school appropriate) and shoes for physical activity.

It is highly encouraged that students wear Abraham Lincoln shirts.  However, it is not a requirement. Each student will receive a Lincoln shirt during registration and we will have shirts available to purchase.  In addition, it is recommended that students wear navy, white, gray or black shirts/tops. In addition, students can wear Lincoln Lancer baseball hats, and we will have them available for purchase.  No red shirts, pants, shorts, shoes, shoe laces, belts.

Debrief and lunch will be from 11:45-12:00 each day and all students must leave campus upon dismissal. There are no programs or staff supervision after dismissal. Please arrange for your student to be picked up at this time, or ensure they have another plan to return home. If students need RTD bus passes, we will provide these to students each day. A grab and go lunch option will be available to students daily.

Please stay up-to-date with us throughout the week! Each afternoon families will receive an email summarizing what students covered at NGA that day, and some days will have action items for families and students to complete together.

Additionally, it is important for families to know during Ninth Grade Academy, there is one centrally employed School Nurse who supports multiple academies across the district. If your student requires medication administration and/or medical treatment during this program, you will need to contact Noel Nieves or Cassandra Tafoya. We will partner with the on-call school nurse to assist you with getting the DPS medication forms in place. Students who have asthma, anaphylaxis and/or severe allergies may carry and self-administer emergency medications(such as inhalers and Epi-Pens) only if they have a completed “Permission to Carry/Self Administer Medications” form on file.  Click here to read our Nursing letter in English or in Spanish.

If you have other concerns about support your child may need during NGA related to safety or mental health, please contact Noel Nieves or Cassandra Tafoya.

We cannot wait to see you next week! If you have any questions, please reach out.
