Student Opportunities this Summer at Lincoln

Hello Lincoln Community!

Below is an outline of all of the summer programming student opportunities occurring through Lincoln high school and the district. Opportunities range from summer school options to recover credits to work based learning opportunities to get paid and advance your career. Free college credit opportunities are also offered through concurrent enrollment, CLEP testing and more for those students wanting to get a head start on college.

Summer School Course Recovery (3 Options)

Get back on track to graduate by earning back credits you did not pass this year

  • ALHS Accelerated Course Recovery (Best Option for students to recover credit quickly)
      • IF YOU EARNED AN INCOMPLETE THIS YEAR and had a final grade between 50-59%
      • Recover classes you earned an Incomplete in QUICKLY without having to retake the entire course! Lincoln will offer ON CAMPUS course recovery June 1st – 11th for Math, English and ELD classes. This is the the quickest way to apply what you already know and stay on track to graduate. Work with Lincoln teachers to complete major assignments from your past classes to earn back that credit. Both remote and in person students are eligible. This program is intended for students who earned a final grade between 50 – 59% who may be one to three assignments away from passing a course. This option may take as little as 1 day! Or get support up to 9 days as needed

  • District Semester Subsequent Course Exam Test Out 
      • If you got an incomplete in Math or English during Semester 1 in a course but passed Semester 2
      • You can take the final exam to earn credit you may have missed out in. Final exams will be offered through the district in Edgenuity and can be taken remotely with a district staff member proctoring the exam. This is an opportunity to earn back credit with a single exam if you truly know the content. For more information click the link below:

  • District Regional Summer School (RSS)
  • If you are looking to retake a course in full that you did not pass this year
    • The Regional Summer School program (RSS) is a summer Credit Recovery program that is aimed at assisting your student in earning credits needed for graduation, through the use of Edgenuity Learning. Edgenuity is an online learning platform used throughout DPS to support our students in earning credits through rigorous, standards-based online courses. RSS will occur at JFK.

CTE Apprenticeship

CTE Internship

  • As a participant in the Launch Internship program, students will work in a professional setting in one of the following industries: Information Technology, Education, or Healthcare. Students work 100 hours over the course of one semester, and will gain the following: 
    • Real-world experience that will stand out on the your resume
    • Skills that are in high demand
    • 10 high school credit hours
    • An RTD pass for each month of the program
    • A network of working professionals that are ready to help you find great work opportunities after the internship

Concurrent Enrollment District Summer Classes

  • ALHS students are eligible for FREE College Coursework this Summer through Denver Public Schools. This Flyer has the classes and prerequisites for the classes that will be offered. Due to the fact that we offer most of these classes during the school year, we will only allow students to take elective courses like: Colorado History and Ethnic Studies. All other courses will be offered at Lincoln during next school year.

CLEP Testing

  • Abraham Lincoln offers FREE CLEP exams for Spanish. This exam allows students to obtain 13 college credit hours if they pass. We will be testing May 12 and 13th. The test MUST be in person. The exam will start at 12:30 in room 117. If students are interested in the exam please fill out this survey. For information email Emmanuel_Garza@dpsk12.org

Accuplacer Testing Makeup

    • Lincoln will be having make up exams for the ACCUPLACER exam. The ACCUPLACER exam is used as a college placement test so students can begin taking college classes for FREE while in high school. If your student has not taken the ACCUPLACER, we will be having makeup days in person and online. Please have your student fill out this survey. Connect Academy

  • August 16th – 20th
  • Incoming 9th Graders Only
  • Incoming Lincoln Freshmen start their school year 1 week early in order to transition into life as a Lincoln Lancer. Connect Academy is designed to start relationships, build familiarity with the building, access Schoology and courses and learn about all the programs and resources available at Lincoln.
