Dear Abraham Lincoln High School Community,

We are saddened and outraged by the increase in Anti-Asian violence occurring within our nation. I join the Abraham Lincoln Community and people everywhere in mourning the victims of Tuesday night’s horrific shootings in Atlanta. These attacks come amidst a disturbing nationwide rise in violence, discrimination directed against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. According to the Stop AAPI Hate National Report, Youths (0 to 17 years old) report 12.6% of incidents. Seniors (60 years old and older) report 6.2% of the total incidents.

Abraham Lincoln High School’s Asian-American community is a vital source of strength for our institution. As the Lancer Community, we must stand with all the groups contributing to our unique campus. I would urge our Lancer Community to do just that.

If and when you observe our fellow neighbors who are members of the AAPI community being subject to any form of racial attack, stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters and act.
