Dear Lincoln Lancer Families,

Beginning on January 11th, Multilingual Learners (MLLs) in grades K-12 will participate in the ACCESS for ELLs state assessment.  This assessment measures a student’s English language skills in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.  ACCESS is used by classroom teachers to determine the level of language support that a student may need during instruction.  With this information, we are able to monitor student progress on an annual basis and determine when a student is ready to be placed in mainstream instruction.  This assessment can only be administered to students in person.

Abraham Lincoln High School will be administering the assessment on Thursday, 1/14/21. Students will need to arrive at school by 7:30 and be picked up at 12:30pm

Parents of Remote Learning Learners, if you would like for your student to complete the in-person ACCESS test, please email Fernando Guidice (Family Engagement and Assessment Coordinator) at Fernando_Guidice@dpsk12.org by 8am on Monday, 1/11/21.

If you choose to have your child test, please be sure that he/she arrives on time for their scheduled testing day so that they do not miss sections of the test.  We will be following all health and safety guidelines as required, and your student will need to complete a health screening at-home or complete one upon arrival and wear a mask at all times while in the school, including for testing.  Students in the virtual program will not be tested in the same space as students that are learning in person in order to not compromise our cohorts.  Students should also bring their charged DPS device to school for testing and a pair of headphones.  Note that district transportation will not be provided.

If  you have any questions about participation or testing schedules, please contact Fernando Guidice.
